Sri Citra | 15th Lunar Day

Goddess Citra means the “colorful, shining, splendid one” and rules over the 15th lunar day or both the Amasvasya tithi (New Moon) or the Purnima tithi (full moon.) Because the new moon is tonight, I will be discussing more about this lunar phase. On the New Moon, all the kalas of the moon ‘die’ and join the Supreme to give birth to a new beginning. This energy can be located in the root chakra, the seat of kundalini and an area where you can find the drive to create energetic intentions.

What I love about today is that it shows the beauty and power of darkness through Kali Ma. She absorbs everything, cleanses impurities and reveals depths of compassion. Everything is absorbed into Her darkness.

This Amavasya tithi marks the birth of the south node of the moon, Ketu which represents detachment, (Lord Ganesh is the deity to worship for help with Ketu), past-life knowledge, and all spiritual pursuits. It is darkness itself.

Her mantras include: OM AIM HRIM SRIM AM CITRAYAI NAMAH + OM AIM HRIM SRIM AM PURNAYAI NAMAH

Today marks a great day to be in meditative state and to connect to a sense of what makes you feel whole.
